I love sharing my wisdom about the real estate industry whenever I can, which is why I was especially honored to be the featured speaker at the Chicago Real Estate Leaders event.
As someone who has worked hard for my success, my goal is to inspire those around me to reach their full potential and aim for the stars. Being surrounded by so many wonderful individuals made it even easier to share my story and connect with people who have faced similar challenges in making it big. As you all know, I believe in taking risks. Without putting all your aspirations and goals out there, you’ll never know what you can truly accomplish. Failures are absolutely a part of life and the road to success, and they may even be more important than having an easy journey.
While I can’t emphasize this message enough, it’s not the whole story. This event allowed me to offer a different perspective and share more strategies essential to building a strong business.
Everyone thinks it’s so grand to be a real estate developer, but realistically, there will be moments when you’re definitely crying. Every part of your dream suddenly becomes real, and it can be hard to bring it all together perfectly. You have to buy the land, get it titled, and secure financing. It’s a whole fiasco—and a LOT of work.
Then it comes down to choosing the team you surround yourself with. You need people who not only know what they’re doing but can be put in a room with everyone involved in the project and get them to see eye-to-eye. Expertise is crucial, that’s a no-brainer, but trust is essential. Yes, someone can know how to build a building, but can they understand exactly what you want to build?
When it comes to making the big decisions, if you don’t think you can trust the people you’re working with, then you’re not with the right team. Plain and simple, you’re taking the wrong approach. At the end of the day, you should trust everyone and have an open-book approach because contractors are your best partners. If they see what you see, success will eventually follow. There’s so much that goes into creating these projects, and of course, we are always so proud to show them to the world because they’re a labor of love, trust, and perseverance. Everything is more than meets the eye!
As this comes to a close, I want to thank all of you for your continued support in my real estate endeavors. I am extremely grateful for every single one of you—whether you’re on my team or simply appreciate my work. I TRULY hope to inspire some of you to start your journeys and follow your dreams!
With endless appreciation and love,
Randy
